In the world of apparel manufacturing it can be easy to get caught up in the fast-pace of the everyday grind- designs, line sheets, and making the sale. Last week, when we received a customer e-mail, it reminded us of the hidden power pajamas can provide - the comfort of home and an instant smile.
The info request came from a customer, Keight, who shared a truly heartwarming story with us.
While Keight’s mother, Bonnie, was being cared for at the Kobacker House, a home-like hospice facility in Ohio, Keight would buy her Nite Nite Munki Munki nightshirts. Bonnie loved their soft, cozy feel. Keight loved that the fun, hand-drawn prints would bring a smile to her mother’s face and lift her spirits. The impact of the nightshirts persisted after Bonnie’s passing, as Keight continued to donate these nightshirts, which the staff would use for their patients as an alternative to the typical hospital gown. The staff found that the patients and their families were so appreciative of this gesture, as the nightshirts enhanced a sense of normalcy, and of even greater impact, would spread joy and uplift spirits throughout the home.
Keight's email was a request to buy the nightshirts in bulk to donate to Kobacker House. We felt so touched by this story that we dug through the archives of our warehouse, in effort to locate any remaining inventory of these Nite Nite Munki Munki nightshirts. Miraculously, we came across nearly 100 units of the style.
We (executives, sales, customer service, design, and production teams) were so pleased to be able to tell Keight that not only did we have these styles on hand, but that she wouldn’t have to pay a penny. We would be donating every single unit of the 96 nightshirts to the Kobacker House in remembrance of Bonnie. When we reached out to the staff at the Kobacker House their gratitude was resounding. They expressed that it is their ultimate goal to provide a comfortable home-like experience for their patients, who grace their 32-room home in their final days of life.
In the season for giving, this reminds us that the work we do goes beyond crunching the numbers, writing orders, or even producing the cutest PJs around, but that our work has the ability to touch lives and spread joy. Happy holidays, from CAC!
